About
The University of Calgary Debate Society (UCDS) provides students with the opportunity to develop public speaking and critical thinking skills through various formats of debate. At the UCDS, we strive to help students develop these skills as they can be applied to their areas of study as well as help them succeed in competitive tournaments. There are opportunities to compete both domestically and internationally at tournaments hosted by numerous universities including the UCDS. The UCDS meets every Wednesday and Thursday from 5-7pm in CHE 110 (Craigie Hall Block-E) during the fall and winter term, discussing numerous topics ranging from politics to science, economics to philosophy, and so much more! Whether you have debated in the past or have no experience at all, our experienced members will provide training in order to help you grow your skills as a debater! If you’re interested in joining or have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at ucds.debate@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram @ucalgary.debate!
